About the location
Kalymnos is a rugged and beautiful Dodecanese island, sitting between Kos and Leros, with a character that feels a little more authentic and unspoilt than some of Greece’s better-known holiday spots. It’s known for clear water, little coves, dramatic hillsides and a warm, welcoming island rhythm that suits families who like their holidays relaxed but still full of interest.
The island has a strong local identity, with harbour towns, seaside tavernas, small beaches and plenty of places to potter, eat and explore. It is also famous for climbing and outdoor scenery, but you do not need to be adventurous to enjoy it - the real appeal is the mix of sea views, friendly surroundings and that feeling of arriving somewhere slightly more special. With the boat crossing included, the journey becomes part of the experience.
