UK residents who are fully vaccinated or non-vaccinated under 18's will not have to isolate when travelling back from amber list countries. The change will come into force from 4am on Monday 19 July. This will also be the date that the government stops advising against visiting amber list countries for pleasure meaning families, friends and loved ones can reunite across green and amber listed destinations.
Further changes were made to the traffic light grading system, with four destinations added to each list.
The UK government’s traffic light system is made up of green, amber, and red destinations. The colour category a country falls into defines the testing, self-isolation, or quarantine requirements for when you re-enter the UK after travelling. Please note, this traffic light system is for re-entry into the UK only – there are also likely to be separate entry requirements set by the country you’re travelling to.

The UK Government has committed to reviewing its Traffic Light ‘status’ of overseas destinations every three weeks. We expect the UK Government to next review the status of overseas destinations on or around 5 August 2021 and every three weeks after that. As the UK Government has previously decided not to give us advance notice of any changes to the entry requirements from different countries, please bear with us as we need to take time to consider any changes to our programme and policies.
Please make sure you check the travel and entry requirements regularly for each country (both UK and abroad) before you depart. There could be changes to the specific entry requirements at short notice, so you may want to wait until seven days before departure before arranging things like COVID-19 tests.
