Disneyland Paris in August: how to make the most of the Magic!

3rd December, 2019

This summer, the youngest members of the Flitch Travel family went to Disneyland Paris, they were the perfect recruits to test run the wonders of Disney during the busiest time of the year.

We can report that the magic very much exists, even when its busy and we are graced with a 35c heat wave. We consider ourselves experts when it comes to creating memorable family holidays and with our helpful hints and tips on Disneyland, you too can be sure to have a wonderful trip.

There are some top-secret tips that are only for the true Disney fans, once you have booked your magical break with us, we will be sure to reveal all!

If you are local to Great Dunmow, we recommend the direct Eurostar service from Ebbsfleet. Located not far from Blue Water shopping centre, it takes about 45 mins to drive to the station, lots of parking is available and once inside the station, a very calm atmosphere welcomes you.

Be sure to ask at the Eurostar information desk for a Kids activity pack. This will keep them entertained for the journey.

Choose your hotel wisely – our young recruits were travelling in peak summer dates; they chose to stay at the Newport Bay Club. Not just because of its impressive setting and proximity to the parks but because it has an indoor and outdoor pool. A dip in the pool was very a welcome retreat to cool off and take some weight off of their feet.

The length of your stay should be considered when choosing a hotel. If you have a short break, 1 or 2 nights, it will pay off to be close the park entrances. The less time you spend getting to the parks the more time you can spend in the parks. If you are staying for 4 or 5 nights, you have time to take leisurely strolls through the grounds and wander the Disney Village. You have the option to walk or take a complimentary shuttle from any Disney hotel to the park entrances.

Take advantage of a meal upgrade if one is available at the time of booking. The dining packages come and go, we recommend you snap up the offer if given the chance. This is a great saving to be had and the choice of restaurants and menus is good.

Pre-book a character meal – You will see characters in the Disneyland park, the normal system is to join a queue and wait your turn to meet, greet and get that oh so desired photo of you and your favourite Disney character. The queues can be long and the characters sometimes have to take a short break, the best way to avoid this scenario is pre-book a meal with the characters.

No queuing, no stress, a guaranteed meet with a host of beloved characters whilst enjoying your breakfast, lunch or dinner. It’s very well organised to ensure that every table gets a visit from each character, its interactive and a fantastic photo opportunity.

Character meets in Walt Disney Studios Park are operated differently; you’ll need to book a ticket using a very special app. You will be given a time and place to meet the desired character, the system works well. Minimal queuing and a special moment with a Disney friend at a specific time, helping you manage the rest of your day. We will set you up on the app at the time of booking your trip.

Watch the fireworks on your first evening – Not only will it set the scene for an enchanting break, it also means during other evenings you can hop on and off rides, whilst the crowds of fellow guests are gathered around the Sleeping Beauty Castle. You’ll be surprised at how many rides you can get on with minimal queuing.

Did you know there is a dragon underneath the Sleeping Beauty Castle? This attraction is missed by many, as you approach the castle heading slightly to the left of the bridge and you’ll see a pathway that beds round and down below the fountains. The dragon is a scary looking beast but an enchanting experience not to be missed by the bravest explorers.

We have many more tips and tricks up our sleeves, if you are planning an adventure with your young ones or your older ones, then be sure to come and see us. The magic starts at Flitch Travel - get in touch for more information!
