Changes to the Traffic Lights

15th June, 2021

Destinations across the globe are graded according to the government's traffic-light system – with each colour permitting different rules around testing and quarantining once returned to the UK.

On Thursday 3rd June it was confirmed that no countries would be added to the green list in its first review, which currently include Gibraltar and Iceland, although Portugal was downgraded to amber.
Other amber destinations, which the government advises against travelling to, include Spain, Italy, Greece and France.

Countries declared red should not be visited, direct flights from and to the UK are banned. Scotland is following the same suit, as is Wales and Northern Ireland.

The EU, meanwhile, has said it will consider lifting all travel restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers. The pressure is now on for the UK government to allow us more of a green list ahead of the main summer holidays.

Next update is expected at the end of June.
