AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND & SOUTH PACIFIC HOLIDAYS

Australasia offers a wealth of ‘can’t miss’ destinations, interesting history and activities. Australia and New Zealand are great for families and ideal for self-drive holidays, with many scenic roads that allow you to gently cruise between cities and attractions or explore your wilder side by getting out into the vast countryside. The South Pacific islands offer a range of different cultures and experiences but all providing picture-postcard-perfect tropical beaches and scenery.

One of the natural wonders of the world awaits you at Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Whether diving, snorkelling, sailing, beach-combing or simply exploring Cairns, Port Douglas and Palm Cove, there’s a world of natural and culinary treasures to be discovered. If visiting Western Australia, you shouldn’t miss the chance of swimming with whale sharks and dolphins. And, of course, there is a whole other world in the vast and wildly beautiful Red Centre, where over 10,000 years of Aboriginal culture, including iconic sites like Uluru, are to be discovered.

Outdoor types will also be enthralled by the rugged wilderness of Tasmania and Kangaroo Island and, for those who like their countryside a little less wild, the famous Hunter Valley wine region is a must - take a hot air balloon ride to see the vineyards from the air, then cycle round this flat area for picnics and wine tasting. The Whitsunday Islands are another ‘must-see’ destination - a group of 47 separate islands that are one of the most popular yachting destinations in the Southern Hemisphere.

New Zealand consists of three main islands that offer a unique diversity of scenery in an area that is only roughly the size of England and Wales. From rainforest, other- world thermal activity and indigenous Maori culture in the North to vineyards, snow-capped mountains and whale watching in the South, New Zealand has something for everyone. The little visited Stewart Island is wild and rugged and a haven for large colonies of sea birds and the famous Kiwi, from which the country’s inhabitants get their nickname.

Tourism in the South Pacific is centred around three main areas, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands and Fiji, all offering their own personalities and charm. Whichever you choose you’ll enjoy idyllic locations, nature in abundance, interesting, friendly cultures and an infectious spirit of adventure.

AUSTRALIA HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

The uniquely different personalities of Australian cities, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide, and of course fabulous Sydney - the Opera House, Darling Harbour, China Town, cruising the harbour and climbing the famous Harbour Bridge. For adventure lovers there’s an unbelievable amount to do! Why not start at Fraser Island with a 4x4 drive down 75 mile beach before the tide comes in, then sleep out under the stars after eating your dinner around a traditional Aussie campfire?

NEW ZEALAND HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

In the North, the easy-going cosmopolitan centres of Auckland and Wellington, know as the ‘coolest little capital in the world’, living Maori culture, the steaming geysers and bubbling mud pools of thermal Rotorua, and the pristine beaches and rainforest covered hills of the Coromandel Peninsula. In the South, majestic alpine scenery and electric blue lakes, Milford Sound (which Rudyard Kipling described as the Eighth Wonder of the World), long golden beaches and untouched wilderness.

SOUTH PACIFIC HOLIDAY HIGHLIGHTS

Bora Bora, Tahiti, Moorea and Tetiaroa in French Polynesia, Aitutaki and Rarotonga in the Cook Islands, and the main or more exclusive offshore islands that make up Fiji. Straddling the date line, there’s even a spot on the island of Taveuni where you can have one foot in today and one foot in yesterday! The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming so it’s worth taking the time to visit local communities to learn about their history and customs.
